What's new in Tandem, newest first.

Week of 19 October
Chats and planning
- Chat first. A session is a normal conversation. Share an idea and the agent asks about it, one question at a time, until it understands the whole thing.
- Plan before building. Once the idea is clear, the agent writes a plan you can review and change. Nothing is built until you say so.
- Team plans. Turn a room's conversation into a plan split into parts, each with an owner. Everyone builds their part on their own Mac, then it all comes together as one change.
- Modes. Choose how much an agent can do on its own: Auto, Manual, Accept edits, Plan or Bypass permissions.
- Watch work happen. See the commands an agent runs with their output, and every edit as a before-and-after.
Working as a team
- Rooms. Each project is a room: who's here, their agents, what they're working on and what's waiting on you.
- Group chats with everyone's agents. Every person and every person's agent in one conversation. Mention any agent, even a teammate's. Anyone in the room can answer an agent's questions.
- End-to-end encrypted team sync. Invite your team with one link. What you share is encrypted on your Mac first, so we can't read it.
- Shared memory. Decisions, owners and open questions are picked up from your chats, with a warning when two people's agents touch the same files or a decision changes.
- Hackathons. One link sets up the whole team, with a countdown, a demo plan and a draft of the submission write-up.
Agents
- Every agent you already pay for. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode and local models through Ollama, with several accounts for each.
- Auto picks the agent. Work goes to whichever agent has the most room left, and Tandem learns which agents do best at what. You can still pick the exact model.
- Usage at a glance. Rings show how much of each plan you've used, and when it will run out at your current pace.
- Race. Give the same request to two to four agents and keep the best result.
Checking work
- No collisions. Each piece of work happens in its own copy of the project. When it's done it lands in your project as unsaved changes: Save keeps it (and can push it), Undo removes it.
- Tests and preview. Your project's tests run on finished work, and Preview shows it running before you keep it.
- Review tools. Comment on lines of a change, ask a second agent for its opinion, or get the change explained in plain words.
- GitHub. Start work from an issue, open a pull request, and send reviewers' comments back to the agent.
The app
- A new look in graphite and lime, with a light theme, side-by-side panes and a menu bar item that shows what needs you.
- Your memory, your call. Export or delete your memory at any time.
- Linux. Tandem now runs on Linux too (.deb and AppImage), tested on Ubuntu 24.04.
